Promoting Israeli-Palestinian and Regional Peace Dialogue

In a region that has been marred for decades by the conflict between Israel and its Arab neighbors, a paramount goal of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Israel is to promote the dialogue between the parties to the conflict, not allowing it to fall silent even in times of persistent violence, and constantly seeking to reactivate it.

In doing so, it is vital that Israeli and Palestinian opinion disseminators contribute to crisis prevention and peace development. To this end the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung promotes Israeli-Palestinian networks, youth organizations, think tanks, and NGOs. It offers Israeli and Palestinian opinion leaders discussion platforms, and keeps the Israeli public informed. It also seeks to involve European decision-makers in the Israeli-Palestinian dialogue.

In addition, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung promotes regional cooperation between Israel and its neighbors. The network of FES bureaus in the different countries enables the Foundation to bring together people of different nationalities and different social classes in order to undertake exchanges about shared interests and improving relations.

In the field of Jewish-Arab coexistence and the strengthening of the Arab minority in Israel the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is cooperating for many years with israeli organisations such as Givat Haviva, the Jewish Arab Center and Mossawa. The work of the foundation includes projects such as Conferences, Workshops, Student Activities and political Lobbying activities.
