Promoting Social Dialogue

Cooperation with trade unions and the support of both sides of industry is an important area of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung activities. Here the focus is on cooperation with the Histadrut, Israel’s umbrella trade union organization. Both institutions pursue the goals of analyzing social policy, proposing improvements, and promoting dialogue between employees and employers. Further partner organisations are the Israeli Association for Industrial Relations and the Israeli National Labour Court.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is particularly keen on encouraging exchanges of experience with German and European trade unions, and making known European concepts of trade union work. In addition, it strives to achieve workers’ interests to the benefit of those concerned.

To this end, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung promotes further training courses, offers platforms for social dialogue, supports studies about labor legislation, and tries to encourage public debate about social issues. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung offers Israeli delegations the possibility of going to Germany to gather information about labor law, trade union work and labor relations, and to gain international experience.
